I suppose every artist goes through themes, or phases, mine at the moment happens to be dark Purple stones and clear crystals. I imagine it's because of the magical quality of purple, to me it's essence resembles mystery, enchantment and magic. I've always truly loved it but now it seems I can't get enough!

Where does jewelry fit into Valentines Day? My goal this year was to take a typical Hallmark expression and turn it into a funky and creative work of art...HEART JeWelrY♥ REBORN!

With Love all around me everyday it kinda takes the pressure off Valentines Day being this uber special romantic love fest. I will say tho, that when Love is in the Air~it's kinda fun to just take hold of that sacred emotion and feed off of everyone else's love vibes to co-create even more.

But sometimes it can get

a little cheezy with all the pink and red hearts everywhere. For the most part, I steer clear of heart shapes in my jewelry, only because they tend to be

I've been a bad, bad girl

Okay, at least in the blogging world. Very bad. I can't believe I haven't blogged in ages!
I at least have some good excuses. I've traveled to Colorado, San Diego and Disneyland and in the in between my Adornments have been moving through me and out into the world! Lots of sales and custom orders. These last couple of months have been really amazing for me and my jewelry. Now I understand why everyone says it takes 3-5 years to be really successful in business....Momentum Baby!
Oh, and my roommate moved out :( but it opened up her room:) and I decided to make it my studio/office space. So that was a huge transition too! And every day I'm so happy I decidided to do that instead of finding another roommate. The space is definitely needed and my fiancee is in his masters program so we really need the space, he's using my former hub as his study.
Here's some pictures of my new and improved studio...it's so inspiring for me to have my very own creative space...YeY!

Ring Magic...My Secrets

So as my metal smithing process continues one very magical thing that has happened is: RINGS! They used to always be such a mystery to me. How do they get so round? So durable? And how do you bezel such a small stone?

Well, the mysteries have yet to all be uncovered. But at least I have got down the basics and then some. I've realized the trick is a very fine saw blade that can kill your fingers but it works great to carve out little spaces. Perhaps an anvil would work to hold the metal in place while you saw.

I like to saw rather than use siccors because you can get a finer and cleaner cut. Of course after sawing you must file around edges to smooth. I use a nail file.

Also a mallet hammer is a must. This helps strengthen the metal while shaping around the ring mandrel without marring the silver. And last but not least touching up on the ol soldering skills can never be enough. The more I solder the more I understand how it works, the metal and the solder. I am by no means a master yet but I can feel my skill level improving and in not even that long of a time.

All it takes is time and dedication (oh yea and some $:)

Creating an Engagement Ring

One of the greatest projects I had this summe

r was the creation of an engagement ring for a powerful Goddess. Of course, the engagement ring was a surprise, so I had to wait until he popped the question until I could go bragging about it, now he did and she said yes, and now I can share my thoughts on it!

It took about 3 months to make it happen. Half of that time was working up the courage to start! Her name is Jade, and she is a funky, non-typical bride, so it was only fitting he was requesting a Jade stone.

I didn't realize how challenging it would be to find a "special" jade. I

am usually the queen of finding special stones, but I searche

d for awhile with all the jade seeming unusually similar. Until I found this apple green jade that I thought was special enough to be in an engagement ring.

I still considered myself a newbie at metal smithing when he asked me to do this, so I was really facing a challenge. I took my time, repeated my steps if needed, and aimed for perfection.

I really have to agree that it's these kind challenges in life that catapult you into the next level. There were moments of fear and frustration but I got through it.

After this ring I feel as though my skills in metal smithing not only improved but my confidence in my work feels stronger and with that, the sky holds no bounds.

My Metal Smithing Adventures: Part 2

Recently I have decided to push my metal smithing forward to create some sterling silver rings! In my opinion, rings are one of the most challenging of jewelry items to make given their small sized stones and attention to delicate details that can melt on a dime.

It has been a couple months now since I have had my jewelers torch with some frustrating self-taught soldering experiences and the advice of a few good teachers I can (happily) say that I am really and truly seeing some improvements in my skill level and feeling more confident in tackling some more challenging layered projects.

I can see on the horizon....

Repose Cuffs

So, I am still on my cuff binge...and I have learned new tricks! This photo here is a silver cuff made from repose techniques. I still can't decide which style I like better (repose or soldering)...they are both fun. Basically repose adds a lot of textures by hammering with special punches and shaped wires. Funny how something made with love can require so much pounding and smashing...but here it is!

Making Cuff Bracelets: Not for the Faint of Heart

My Long Road through metalsmithing chaos has led me to the world of cuff braclets! So it has been about three weeks since I've been fully equipt to go through the entire process of hand making a cuff. It is truly amazing the steps that it takes and the fine-tuning of skill needed to perfect this art. I keep wondering if I'm taking the long way or if there's some special secret or a wonder tool that would make my life easier.

I think my mantra has been "patience and practice makes perfect". It really helps to keep in mind that I'm just a beginner and not to be too hard on myself when it takes me hours to complete one of these things!

Really! Only three weeks into it and I'm already getting impatient! Thoughts are way ahead of my skill level. My mind is bursting out with ideas and my hands are trying desperately to keep up. Speaking of hands....don't get me started on how brutal I have been to my hands lately with all the cutting, sanding, hammering (ouch!)

The good news is, the cuffs I have come up with I'm pretty proud of. Here are some of them pictured here. To get a better glimpse, you can always head over to my website for different views.

Okay, from the looks of all my complaining :) it's time to go to bed and start fresh tomorrow! When I don't feel like such a newbie I will give a better relay on what my process of making these are. But FIRST! Let me figure the process out!

This is a photo from my old living room when I lived in San Diego about 4-5 years ago! The night this was taken was when my now fiancée, then supreme love interest came over for a visit. There is actually lots of great photos from that night and the next day walking on sunset cliffs and strolling through Ocean Beach. I miss the times in that little house and in San Diego! Ahhhhh....Memories!

Taking the Plunge into MetalSmithing!!!!

It has been an ongoing goal of mine to get into metal smithing from some time now....And Now the day has finally come!
I have taken a couple classes and it took awhile for funds to open up because it is an expensive endeavor....but today on this bright springtime sunny day....I took my first initial PLUNGE of an investment into a torch and it's accessories!
This is a big process unfolding, I still have to acquire several more items before I can actually make anything and of course I have to gain the skills (he he) but it really feels good to feel like I'm moving forward with it.
I'm ready for this step to learn something new and build my skill level as a jewelry artist! Probably first on my list is to make a bunch of fused cuff bracelets. I have made only one in class, but I remember the instructions and with my own supplies the creativity potential of these is endless!
Yea!!!!!!!!!!!

The other day I was hiking and a passing hiker casually asked me, "What's going on?" and I said, "What's NOT going on?" and we all laughed at the silly truth...

Everything is happening...what do we put our precious attention towards?

The only logical answer I can come up with is the maintaining a true stillness of the heart and a clear mind. This is essential because with this all of my random chaotic happenings will glide smoothly into place if I am coming from a grounded nature. My To-Do-List is always begging for attention and dedication and the items are constantly changing on that list.

The items on my list are not the issue.

Fossil Jewelry Made Enchanting

I love fossils! A physical testimonial to Earth's history. Ammonites are the most commonly used fossil for jewelry making, a irresistible spiral and natural earth toned colors.

But THIS fossil one is one of very special caliber. As you can see, the test of time has coated this ammonite with a sheer pyrite finish. As if it has been dipped in gold! On the inside, you can see shimmery sparkles.

Spectacular Tucson Gem Show!~

For those of you that have been to the Tucson Gem Show before...you know what I mean when I say "Spectacular"! It is truly beyond human capabilities to walk through it's entirety.

In fact, I think I can stay all day in only one tent!

Going to Tucson is part of my yearly pilgrimage to gather new stones and crystals, hand picked by myself, to use in my creations. It brings loads of inspirations in somewhat overwhelming proportions...but I do like options:) Plus I LOVE LOVE LOVE Arizona!

Here are a couple of pics of some impressive specimens I came across (I love the picture jasper that looks like trees), plus a pic of a hike I went on and one more of a collection of random gems I gathered at the show.

My Metal Smithing Adventures: Part 1

Well, yesterday marked the very first day of a loooong journey through metal smithing wonderland! It was so fun and amazing and opened so many doors of creativity that I can't wait to explore!

I made this bracelet...my first project. I have a strong desire to make many, many more of these.

Of course now...it is time to gather my thoughts and energy toward actually obtaining the tools and supplies to do so. The studio I made this bracelet in was professional and perfectly equipt with every single thing you could possibly imagine pertaining to creating a piece of jewelry.

Now I will begin my process and challenge of upgrading my home studio into a metal smithing workshop!

Gloomy weather has taken hold of Southern California. People complain as if we aren't usually soaked with golden beams of sunny days...I kinda like the variety.

Highlighting Moonstone and it's Healing Properties

I just made this custom piece for my friend Liz and thought I'd post it cause I LOVE IT! I have been holding on to this moonstone for a year and it finally found its home. Actually, it inspired me to write a blog today about the healing properties of moonstone, which I truly think every woman should own at least one. Another thing to consider, moonstone is gaining in value as time goes on making them even more precious.

Moonstone is known as the keeper of feminine mysteries. Not only on a physical level does it en

ergetically help our bodies' hormonal levels and emotions to stay balanced, but also enhances deep intuition, self discovery, insight and possibly even dreams.

I have always felt females have an innate clairvoyance, whether we activate it or not. Moonstones helps see this as a blessing and stay connected to our mysterious wisdom.

My New Fabulous Website is Now Finished!

It was my pre-New Years resolution to completely finish my website and on New Years Eve I celebrated with a clear mind knowing that big task was complete!

Last month was I consumed on my website project I don't even think I made one piece of new jewelry! Oh the joy of a completed project!

Am I crazy to build my own website?

All Day! All day I have been working on the tedious clicking involved with building my very own website. I definitely give major props to graphic designers and site builders cause it takes a lot of work! People really do this? (he he)

On a positive note...I love the way it is turning out and I can't wait to bring it to the world. I am enjoying making it super customized and I have included cutsy little details that will make it oh-so unique!

I have had an etsy site for two years and it is great, but I think my very own site will be one notch higher toward my professional goals. New Year is my deadline for finishing this project!

Then it's on to bookeeping (oh boy)

I Won First Place in an Art Show!!!

Okay, I have a weeks grace period to brag! I'm still basking in the afterglow of my First Place Reward! How exciting and flattering:)

It was an art show in the quaint town of San Juan Capistrano last Saturday. A beautiful, warm sunny day (California in November).

And also this month marks my 2nd year since Goddess Adornments was born~ all kinds of good news for me.

After moving back down to Southern California, I have learned a lot and new doors have been opening. Miles, and lifetimes it seems, away from the small town of Eureka where I dicovered, formulated and nurtured this business prepared me for moving into a larger market. I am now swimming with the big fish. The Hollywood Fish. And somehow I jiggeled the right way and caught the attention of some fancy LA marketing firm and the first week of December will be doing a trunk and buyers show.

I am going to approach this opportunity with a clear and open mind and strive for the best I can attain. Who knows, maybe you'll see my designer jewels on the red carpet someday...

Halloween is upon us so the thoughts of treats are abundantly around us or at least in our memories:)
This year for Halloween I have dedicated myself to helping out at my mother-in-laws crazy Halloween party which she has been planing since last Halloween! My duty of service is to bartend this very large, smashing event so....as an adult I wish for no sweet treat but the glowing green treats of financial gain!

Hello Everyone~

I have been out of the loop for some time now...there seems to be a lot of people here I don't recognize! My moving situation coupled with work (and fun of course) gobbled up a lot of my time...BUT now I am back and excited to be a part of this healing circle once again!

So on this beautiful fall day Jaime casts the wish for us to ponder: What do you wish to say "yes" to?

For me, with how stirred up my life is lately I haven't had much time/energy to focus on some deeper and meaningful practices that I know will benefit me immensely. I have finally found my space, made a home and settled in a little bit to focus beyond the material plane and into a deeper realm.

One of the ways I am transporting myself there is setting myself up for a series of wonderful cleanses that will enrich my body mind and spirit.

And Please Ladies, if you have any time whatsoever to read an amazing read that will encourage and walk you through changing eating habits and details on some fantastic cleanses, you have to read this book! "Super Cleanse" by Adina Niemerow. Wow! It is fantastic!!

So this Friday is the first cleanse that I have ever done and I am so excited to say YES to:

where I have been the last couple of months! In a chaotic whirlwind that I have to admit h

ad it's exciting moments, but did require me to take a slight leave of absence from my work and especially luxiouries like blogging. :) You know, when your looking for a place to live, stuff is in boxes and you still have a full schedule of events and tasks to take care of some things slip to the wayside.

I did miss my Goddess Adornments after all though, and I'm back in

action.

Hopefully with even more to offer because I

now serve the Los Angeles area, since it is my new home and all.

After getting my studio up I have been networking and researching on some fabulous shows in the greater LA area to display my work. Things are moving along nicely.

A future plan of mine is to try to target to magazines/models/movie industry since I am now in the entertainment capital of the world. So....got a lot on my plate and still settling into my new home.

Of course, I did just go on a little jewelry binge and make a couple kille

r pairs of earrings which are pictured here! I don't think I can go for too long without making something new!

This is a Great Question

and I have a great answer...

I am usually a part of wishcasting wednesdays, but have been absent the last couple weeks because I moved down the state of California...oddly enough plans fell through with the house I was moving into so I am living with my boyfriend at his mothers. Not necessarily what we would prefer however we are so grateful to at least have this option.

For the first time we have discovered the trama of a storage unit (upstairs too!) and all of our things are boxed away.

I have my jewelry studio cramed into a very small space but still producing flow and staying somewhat organized during this transition

My boyfriend and I have decided to look for a home to buy instead of rent since the housing market is so low we might get lucky.

With all of these big changes and some of them imparing on my comfort....

Things are in full swing at my home right now, I am planning to move in less than two weeks (from Northern to Southern California) plus I just finished a jewelry show and have two more shows, one the day before I get the moving truck.
Thankfully, I knew in advance this would be a chaotic explosion of loose change and planned accordingly. Not to say it's not a tad hecktic, but I have been slowly compiling at home for the last couple weeks and "making room" has been my theme. Evaluating, throwing things out, garage sale on Saturday. Ancient Healing Necklace...Ammonite Attraction

One of my newest pieces I am ever so excited to share!
An alluring design accentuates the delicate nature of the female form while creatively displaying two beautiful ammonite fossils.
I was definitely intrigued by the possibilities of healing in working with ammonites and did a little research on their history and potential healing properties. The ones here, in this necklace date back to 300 million years old. Probably going extinct along with the dinosaurs, ammonites left their remains scattered around Earth in rock beds and along ocean floors. Now we can harness this ancient treasure for healing purposes and art value.
But what kind of healing could a fossil of 300 years bring us???
It is said that the ancient energy that has been stored around within these fossil walls holds a deep vibration of knowledge and is strongly associated with the Akashic Record, the record of all that is, was and ever will be.

What Special Stones have I been Hording???

Soooo, I did it! I broke into my "extra special" stone collection! I find myself holding on to stones that are extra, Extra special and insanely beautiful. Maybe because they are so precious and rare I want to gaze at them from time to time as I shuffel around my stone stash while making jewelry. Instead of making them into pieces right away, sometimes stones/crystals are in my possession for a year or more before they find their home.
I was also realizing that when something is so tantalizing I can't rush it into a project, I think they(the stones) slip into my subconscious and my mind weaves through the possibilities until there is that shinning perfect moment...when I can finally use that special stone. Here is a trio of goodness... and only the tip of the iceburg.
But now that Pandoras Box has been opened...I kinda went crazy this week when it dawned on me that I have three shows coming up in the next three weeks and on top of that I'm moving from Northern California to Southern California in exactly three weeks. I have known and have been planning for this for some time now, but the reality is sinking in.
So to cope, I decided why not start using all of the best stones that I own??? That way I'll have plenty of good stuff for all my shows. So I broke into the stash but I'm very happy to say, that there is so much more where this came from!!! In due time, they too, will be born!

I have to think about this very clearly because my first thoughts are that inviting something in is sending an invitation to allow for something/someone to come into my energy field. Don't they say that vampires come in only when invited? Not to be creepy or anything but these are my first thoughts!
Actually, I have heard from many successful people that "success" is something that most people want but few people allow. As odd as it may sound there is an underlying fear around it and the subconscious may try to keep it at bay, only allowing a certain level to occur.
I am at a point in my jewelry business where I can feel the momentum of what I have built. I can feel the force of success knocking on my door asking..."How far would you like to take this. It is all up to you. " And it is a little intimidating because this is new territory...but
I wish to open the door and invite in success!!!

It's 4th of July, Why am I Blogging?????

Some might say I'm a loser, for blogging on such a sun bathing, beer drinking holiday. But Remember! I live in Eureka (for only one more month:)
As you can see, I'm getting small-town-syndrome. I have already walked through the town fair (twice) and it's overcast and foggy. For the last 5 years, no body has been able to see the firework show. It just looks like daytime at night.

Just returning home from a blissful vacation in Sedona Arizona, I am feeling rejuvenated and healed and wishing to reconnect with renewed wisdom and inspiration~
Being a member of the etsy blogging street team, I was asked the question- "What are my 5 favorite things about summer"....to which I reply

The joy radiating from people around me, everyone just seems so much more happy in the summer!
The freedom of motion creates an energy to which everyone dances. There are always so many things to do, places to explore and people to see during the summer months that bring out an extremely active state of travel and adventure.
All of my winter months, I spend planning and booking jewelry shows and festivals...for the summer. And now is the time when I get to come into the other side and experience the fruit of my seeds.

A Summer Solstic Birthday Suprise

Growing up with the name "Summer" and on top of that having my birthday on Summer Solstice every year has really made me appreciate and absorb the true essence of the name and season. It has had it's annoying times like the infamous...."Do you have a brother named Winter?" line. I can't tell you how many times I've heard that one. But overall it is a joyous time and just the mention of my "name" makes people happy.
This year however will be a little different. I am turning the big 3-0. An interesting threshold where my goals are coming into full bloom and I feel an indescribable completeness I have never felt before. BUT THIS DOESN'T MEAN I'M QUITE READY TO SKY DIVE!!!!
Which I have heard through the grapevine is my birthday surprise this year! I'm not suppose to know, so I have to act extra shocked when they take me face one of my challenging fears, which would be jumping off very very high things.
I still have a couple weeks of grounded-ness to mentally prepare myself. But I get nervous just thinking about it! I know I'll be fine and feel like a million bucks afterwards but this is NOW!
So when summer solstice comes remember me and send me you good lovin' energetic courage and strength!!!!
WAhoo I'm 30!

P.S. this is the tailsman that I will be wearing on my journey towards earth at 125 miles per hour. Flourite is said to be one of the most protective stones...calling all angels :)

For me June holds a special magic...
it is the gateway into the summer and I have always seen it to be a lighter time of the year. People come out of their winter slumbers and spring allergies to discover...LIGHT! Beaches, parties, vacations, happiness.
Oh yeah, and my birthday is in June, on the Summer Solstice :) and everybody loves their birthday month!
My wishes for this June~
To travel safely and have connect deeply with my lover! We are going on an adventure to some music festivals visits to family and friends and a week long vacation to Sedona Arizona on my 30th birthday! May this month bring Bliss and Bliss and more Bliss!

Because now it may come true...if I wish really hard and you all wish with me!!!
Frivolous meaning not necessary but heavily desired. Okay I can think of a couple of things :) All having to do with garments I have been longing for but avoiding. I keep saying, oh in a couple weeks I'll treat myself and I keep pushing it off because it isn't necessary...or is it?
So here I posted a picture of a handmade one-of-a kind, bellydancing belt that I've had my eye on for awhile (a long time) that I would love to shake around in on a summer dance floor....

My Secret Beach

Starting with a clear mind...what do you think of when asked...."What is a place in nature that you deeply resonate with?"
For me there are definitely many, I especially love high desert and of course, the ocean. During the last couple years living in Northern California, I have missed the desert but I have been blessed to create a new relationship with a different kind of beach. Deserted, rocky coasts resemble a fantasy land I thought only existed in my dreams. There are many secret spots where you can just be...and absorb all of the wondrous life around you. Marinading in the salty air and gazing into purple crashing waves the vision of this new necklace appeared. Appropriately named "My Secret Beach".

We all have those sentimental places in nature that we feel deeply connected to. This place might help us get in touch with our own rhythms and cycles. A place to think. A place to be alone. A place to call home.
Whether your place be a desert cliff, a deserted beach, a mountain top, a lagoon or all of the above. This piece was made in honor of the healing power of these sacred sites and how how blessed we are to wander this planet where so many special places exist!

As soon as I laid eyes on this abalone shell, I knew it would be the perfectly alluring centerpiece to this design! It is full of color, contrast and a very interesting bubbly pattern. Even more unique is it's secret hiding place in the back, where I hid a couple white freshwater pearls to wear close to your heart.
Cascading down from it's center are more pearls in complimenting grays, greens and burgundy. Even some moonstone and jade stones are floating in the mix.

Please entertain my original question... What place in nature do you deeply resonate with???

What a wonderful thought to sit with.
My higher self is the part of me that can shine through at all times if I let it...compassionate, generous, full of confidence, a great listener, determined, expressive, funny, a seeker of higher meanings, connecting at all times with nature and fully present with love for all that is.
In this state of consciousness, I can freely float through life in a state of grace. I will succeed in my jewelry design career and other self developments, I will have long lasting, meaningful relationships and even challenging battles will unfold into beauty.
I will always trust and be taken care of.
So this is my higher self speaking...and I wish to stay present and alive with this true essence of myself. This is who I am.

Wine, Art and the Oregon Coast...What A Great Weekend!

I just had such a fun time showing my jewelry at the Art and Wine Festival at Gold Beach Oregon! I unpacked and reorganized this morning... I'm wiped out and don't think I can spit out a full sentence, but at least I can type.
It was non-stop at the festival, I met so many amazing people and sold some of my most extravagant and favorite pieces! And you know what that means....?I get to make more!!!
I always knew that wine and jewelry were a great combo :)

My ART Inspired Philosophy

For all you artists out there, what do you think about (if at all) while you make art???
For me it varies from meditating to music, or if I'm making a custom piece I could be channeling in the wearer. But today a revelation came to mind and I opened myself to it while I made this piece, Falling Moon Beams.
It became obvious how my method to making jewelry parallels my lifestyle.
I usually start with some kind of idea, a framework that sets me in motion on a path. I have a general idea and the tools and materials to figure out how to manifest it. As I am moving along on a project I am very open to changes and offsets of inspiration. And sometimes the original Idea completely transforms into something even better than what I had imagined.
So...trust yourself, allow a plan to form and goals to be met. But always stay flexible and open to doorways the universe unexpectedly opens, even if it deviates you from what you originally planned. I believe amazing things has happened to me because of this philosophy.
p.s. I guess my recent decision to move to a different city prompted this!

I currently live in Northern California with my lover, amongst a great earth friendly, conscious community. I have been content here for the past couple years. But things change and this week, a situation opened up for us to move to Southern California, where we originally are from. All the sudden life changes and I realized how exciting this is...I get to reconnect with All of my friends and family again that I have missed so much! The only thing that has been lacking from my life while I've been up here.
I wish to Reconnect with those in my past who are dear and more importantly accept each other for the changes that have occurred in the past couple of years. Oh yea, and to reconnect with the SUN!!

My Obsessive Jewelry Making Binge!!

I just got blessed with a great gift...a weekend all to myself! Nothing and Nobody to distract me. I decided to take full advantage and dedicate myself to obsessively make jewelry and it felt damn good I must say. I'm working right now on gaining as much inventory as I can for my many upcoming summer shows! Here's a sneak preview of what I just made this weekend...it will be integrated throughout the week on my website.
Now that I see them all together...the theme I was working with becomes quite clear-wire wrapped and spirals. I like that combo! It was a sunny the day I made the "Supreme Gypsy Hoops" (pictured above)

Not a knock or a doorbell, but a honk...telling me the airport shuttle is here. I open the door with my packed luggage and my lover and we head out to an exciting and deserved holiday!!! I guess what I really want is to not see my doorstep at all for a couple weeks!

Eye of Amethyst

They say that your eyes are a window to the soul...If this is the case, then what does your glance reveal?
Amethyst has been a long respected stone used traditionally for easing the spirit, calming the mind and for in-depth exploration of spiritual matters. Especially useful for enhancing intuition and visions.
So maybe this "Eye of Amethyst" is not only a window into your soul but also a pathway out. To see beyond the ordinary and into the Extraordinary. Crystal tears of happiness reflecting wisdom.
Handcrafted from entirely oxidized sterling wire..took some negotiating but I was determined! I also included moonstone for it's tremendous feminine balancing properties and bright green peridot for the heart.
This piece actually came to me right before falling asleep and persisted until I finally leaned over and switched on my lamp to jot down the idea. It really wanted to be made...so here it is!

How TO Handle Custom Orders...and the Making of "Swirling into Oblivion"

Custom orders are one of the most grandest compliments an artist can receive. But why are they sometimes so scary?
Well, you have one Huge advantage in this situation. The person has definitely seen your art and decided that they approve of your style and skill and would like you to make something special just for them. Isn't that sweet??
It is!
But Beware! You can quickly lose your sanity if you don't keep certain elements of control in your hands. And by control, I mean your creative input. You must not let them get too carried away with their ideas of what they want. Reason? Because they will soon formulate an unconscious expectation, that unless you are a mind reader you will never be able to meet.
Here is my basic formula:
Customer- color, size, material suggestions, overall basic shapes, mood
Artist- construction, fine details, exact materials, embellishments, freedom in changing/adding shapes, your artists touch
Oh, and always talk about pricing before you start (tip from the wise)!

Sacred Spiral Symbolism

Spiral Energy
Spiral symbol is more than just a hypnotic focal point. In many ancient traditions the spiral represents the constant flow of energy, and the evolution of the human soul. Growth, rebirth, death, seasons and cycles...the spiral takes a sacred form as it is a link to all that exists. They are a naturally occuring spirals all throughout nature, such as in ammonites (pictured here). I tend to use a lot of spirals in my work as they are a constant reminder to me, of the sacred divine.
